About
Building trust for generations.
A Tradition of Excellence since 1968
Cumberland Construction is built on a foundation of knowledge, integrity and trust. For decades, we’ve designed and built projects for our own and clients accounts that have created value and endured the test of time.
We are engineers, contractors, builders and developers.
We design, construct, build and develop real estate.
Our Story
Cumberland Construction Corporation is a family-owned real estate development, construction, and engineering company, founded in 1968 in Toledo, Ohio by Claude M. Brown, Jr., PE (deceased 1998).
Today, the company is proudly owned and managed by Claude’s sons, Claude (“Butch”) M. Brown III, PE and Tim Brown, PE, who carry forward their father’s legacy of technical excellence and personal integrity.
Our Approach
At Cumberland, we believe success begins with collaboration with all participants.
- Knowing the numerous regulations and codes that apply to the construction and real estate development process, we work with local zoning, building and engineering departments as well as state and federal regulators from the very start of each project to ensure compliance.
- We work with owners, engineers and architects to bring engineering discipline including feasibility and constructibility to the design process.
- Managing construction of our projects to ensure quality and long-term performance.
- Meeting budgets and schedules for a successful completion.
Since 1968, we have built enduring relationships and reputation to help ensure the success of our projects.
Our Expertise
With over five decades of experience, Cumberland brings real-estate and construction expertise across multiple sectors, including:
- Land Development – guiding projects from concept through completion
- Industrial & Commercial Construction – warehouses, offices, and other facilities
- Residential Construction – apartments, condominiums, and custom homes
This breadth of experience ensures we can anticipate inevitable challenges that occur during the development and construction process.
